My first ever blog created was in WordPress, with a .wordpress.com subdomain. Before that my internet use was limited to Yahoo chat, especially those rooms where you could find new people to chat with. Over a period of time, I have designed, developed, and hosted several websites both using WordPress and without. In this article I am going to tell you about the era of WordPress management platforms and why you should consider being a WordPress freelancer.

How popular is WordPress in 2022?

Although there is a huge disrespect for WordPress in the programming community, data shows WordPress is the most popular content management system used to develop websites. According to W3Techs, WordPress powers 43% of all the websites on the internet too after excluding the content management system(CMS).

I can somehow understand the reason for disrespect. Creating a WordPress website may be easier than building a complete CMS on your own, but managing a WordPress site comes with loads of troubles. Even more when you have several websites to manage. Imagine going to each of those websites one by one, updating WordPress, updating plugins, making a security check, dealing with performance issues, editing posts, and many more. If you have been there you know what I am talking about and if you are new to WordPress development and are planning to go there, luckily you have an option not to go there by choosing a good WordPress management platform.

What is a WordPress management platform?

Simply put, a WordPress management platform holds all your WordPress websites inside one dashboard and gives you an opportunity to perform several WordPress-related actions without needing you to go to each site individually. These actions can be as simple as updating plugins to more complex actions such as managing posts.

How does this WordPress manage hosting helps freelancers?

We have been always hearing time is money. To me, time is more than money. You can always earn more money but you can not earn more time. As a freelancer, you will have multiple tasks to perform such as finding new clients, maintaining good relationships with clients, working on projects, handling invoicing, and many more. Managed WordPress hosting can give you many hours of your time back by taking care of the boring manual tasks that do not require your actual input. This way, you can focus on more valuable tasks to grow your business.

Let’s say you have in total 20 WordPress websites. Imagine going to each of their dashboards to check available updates, possible security issues, and so on. As you grow, the total number of your WordPress websites will increase from 20 to 100s. If you have to perform all these tasks manually just calculate the number of work hours you will be spending on those. Luckily though, with managed hosting platforms you can run the same action for several websites. Additionally, some platforms also let you schedule the actions for the future.

What are good WordPress management platforms in 2022?

There are several management platforms that are focusing on reducing the gap between hosting and management. These are a few of the WordPress management platforms that are changing the way WordPress sites are being hosted and managed.

ManageWP

ManageWP lets you manage your website using their Dashboard. You need to first connect your website either using admin credentials or using the key generated by their plugin. It has a free as well paid plan.

Wonsta

Wonsta is the latest addition to the WordPress management market which solves the problem of both WordPress hosting and management inside a single platform. With Wonsta, you can either manage your external hosted website by connecting to Wonsta App or you can create a website inside Wonsta itself and manage your website using the Wonsta dashboard. All the websites created inside Wonsta have the ability to autoscale for better performance. Managing WordPress websites inside Wonsta is completely free. For hosting you need to pay.

MainWP

MainWP is a WP management plugin to control hundreds of WP sites from one dashboard. It will allow you to see all managed WordPress sites on one screen. Additionally, it has extra features such as uptime and site health monitoring.

Freelancing is a trending term and many dreams to have a “trending” freelancing lifestyle where you can travel anywhere and work from anywhere. While this sounds exciting for many there are lots of background hassles freelancers go through. In the case of WordPress freelancers website management is one of the major issues ( I know getting a project is the main 😅). I hope with a help of better WordPress management tools and platforms, it will make your WordPress freelancing more enjoyable.
